GENERAL APPROACH
This pan-European project will combine field surveys, genomic tools, large-scale semi-natural experiments (see picture below for an illustration of a large-scale experimental set-up) and computational modelling. We will use freshwater model organisms that have significant ecological and socio-economic impacts on several ecosystems.
PROBIS is a consortium of nine laboratories from five European countries and it is lead by Jean Clobert, Julien Cote and Simon Blanchet (click one of the names to send an email and get more information).
WORPACKAGES
PROBIS includes seven workpackages arranged according the below-flowchart. In WP1 we aim at sampling populations of all biological models along an age-gradient invasion (i.e. from recent to old populations). In WPs 2-4 we will use phenotyping, genotyping, sequencing and large-scale experiments to understand adaptations along age-gradient invasions. In WP 5, a general simulation model will be developed, whereas WPs 6-7 are related to communications and socio-economical issues.
